Factors like deck size, material line, height, stairs, railing, and additions such as a roof or lighting all influence the final cost. We measure your space and provide a no-cost estimate tailored to your project.

A member of our Blackrock Decks office team will reach out by text to schedule your estimate appointment. One of our estimators will meet you at your home, walk the space with you, and talk through your vision and design options. Within a few business days, you'll receive a detailed estimate by email. If you decide to move forward, we'll get your project on the construction schedule and walk you through the next steps!

Yes. Blackrock Decks is a fully licensed and insured general contractor with 40+ years of combined experience building in Utah. Our general contractor license allows us to handle the full scope of your project, from permits and engineering to structural work, custom roofs, and more. We handle the details needed to bring your vision to life.

Every project we build carries our five-year Blackrock Decks labor and craftsmanship warranty, the highest in the industry. All materials used in the project are warrantied by the respective manufacturer(s). Where applicable, we register material warranties for you and send them with your closeout package.

Please do! You can text us photos and say you want the railing from one project and the stairs from another, and that is genuinely the easiest way to start. Send us whatever inspires you, from our gallery or anywhere else, and we can tell you what it takes to build it.

Trex Select has a refined grain pattern that mimics natural wood grain, while Trex Transcend enhances that grain pattern further and offers 11 color options compared to Select's smaller range of 5 colors. Both stand up to Utah's weather and clean easily with soap and water, though Transcend holds up better against scratches. Trex Select carries a 35-year warranty, while Trex Transcend is backed by a 50-year warranty.

We build primarily with composite decking, mainly Trex and TimberTech. We also install Ipe hardwood and solid surface decking on request, so let us know if that is the look you are after!

Customers often combine multiple projects, such as building a deck with a custom roof over part of it and matching railing. Combining projects with Blackrock means the design, engineering, and installation can all be coordinated through one company, creating a seamless process from start to finish.

Composite decking typically lasts 25 to 50 years with basic care, roughly double the 10-to-15-year lifespan of a wood deck. Depending on the line, Trex warranties its decking material for 25 to 50 years, so you're covered well beyond the time a wooden deck would start to break down.

Adding a custom roof, pergola, shade cover, or nearby greenery all help keep a Trex deck cooler. Lighter decking colors also absorb less heat than darker tones, so color choice can also make a difference.

Yes. Trex decking can handle salt exposure, but we recommend sticking to rock salt or calcium chloride rather than other ice-melt products, which can contain chemicals that damage the composite surface over time. Rinse the deck with water once temperatures warm up to clear away any residue.

Sweep away leaves and debris before the first freeze. Clear snow promptly with a plastic shovel or a broom rather than letting it sit and refreeze. During the winter, check that drainage stays clear, and use only rock salt or calcium chloride if you need to de-ice the surface.

Use a plastic shovel or push broom, never a metal-bladed shovel, which can scratch or gouge the composite surface. Shovel in the direction of the boards rather than across them, and avoid ice picks or sharp tools for stubborn ice patches.
